The Lincoln Garden Club & Horticultural Society was founded in 1993 and has been a member of the Ontario Horticultural Association since 2001. Our club holds regular meetings through the winter, spring and fall. The month of May is very busy time for club members with preparing their own gardens and yet still finding time to mount our the Lincoln Garden Club Annual Plant Sale! Summer brings two more club events of note; The Lincoln Garden Club Garden Members Tour and the annual club Field Trip where we go on the road to visit Ontario gardening meccas.
The Lincoln Garden Club & Horticultural Society is involved in the following ongoing programs in the community: The establishment of a bursary fund in 2009 to provide financial aide to horticulture/landscape students-in-need as qualified by Niagara College. LGCHS has also been providing for several years now $2000 annually for the college's horticulture program as well as for the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture. The garden club has been responsible for designing and planting and continued partial maintenance of gardens at the following locations in Lincoln: Balls Falls Conservation Area, garden beds at Town of Lincoln municipal grounds including planting/maintaining trees and signage update for the Millennium Forest, Mt. Osborne Cemetery rhodos & azaleas garden, the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library side garden, a Rhododendron & Azalea garden on Vineland Research & Innovation Centre grounds, Rose Cottage grounds, and roses care at the Cenotaph. We also make annual donations of prizes for the West Niagara Fair floral competitions, and participate in the Town's annual senior events.
